CVCS students attend JCC Leadership Conference
19 high school students recently attended a full day leadership conference at Jamestown Community College. Students heard from keynote speaker, Matt Bellace, Ph.D. Doctor Bellace, presented on resiliency in the face of stress and how to navigate positive sources of coping. Self-Care and Leadership, Applied Leadership and Community Leadership were among the other workshops held throughout the day. This conference is the jumpstart to two new college courses being offered next school year at Cassadaga Valley: JCC Leadership Engagement 1300 and JCC Leadership Development 1660.

Cassadaga Valley is proud to announce our very own Madilynne Hattaway as a recipient of a $500 scholarship through the Be More Fitness organization. Fitness events are held throughout the county and raise funds for scholar athletes at local high schools. Congratulations, Maddie!

The Cassadaga Valley boys and girls golf teams, under the direction of Coach Jodi Hoffman and Coach Jenny Ringler, have had two clean up days at the Cassadaga Country Club this spring. Both golf teams helped out with some course clean up including: raking, picking up sticks, and leaf removal. This time spent together created team bonding and was a good way to show acts of community service. Our school is proud of our community partnerships and is grateful for the many opportunities the Cassadaga Country Club offers our high school golfers. Although not everyone is pictured below all members helped in at least one of the two clean up days! ⛳️ 🏌️♀️ 🏌️♂️

The PTO meetings for May and June have been cancelled. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Wichlacz at twichlacz@cvcougars.org.

We have some sad news to share as a beloved member of our school community passed away yesterday. Mr. David Abram, who served this District with distinction as the high school principal from 1967 until his retirement in 1991 passed away Thursday at the age of 90. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing or working with Mr. Abram can reflect back on what a wonderful person he was, and how dedicated he was to our school and community. Having grown up here and then returning to serve as principal for 24 years is a clear demonstration of his love for the Valley.
Our deepest condolences go out to the entire Abram family at this difficult time. We will share the arrangements as they become available.

Reminder: 3-5th grade students will be completing the state test in ELA tomorrow morning at SES! Please encourage them to get a good night's sleep, to relax, and do their best on the test! They will do great!

This is a message to notify all families, faculty and staff that despite a number of hoax phone calls that other schools in our region have received, everything here at CVCS remains safe - and our regular school schedules have been followed throughout the afternoon. We will have a regular dismissal and after school activities will take place as originally planned. While we maintained a "lockout" this afternoon, it was simply to employ a procedure that enhances our building security - there was never a direct concern for anyone's safety here in the Valley. Thank you and have a great evening!

Good afternoon Cougar Family! I'm writing to share an important notification regarding a regional and statewide hoax about school shootings. These calls to a wide variety of school districts are totally unfounded and School District officials and law enforcement officers are all aware of the "swatting" efforts designed to elicit widespread concern. There is a regional response from school leaders to reassure our communities that there is no credibility to these phone calls or internet statements. Out of an abundance of caution we will be in a lockout for the remainder of the school day. A lockout simply means that access to the buildings will be extremely limited - but everyone is safe and sound. Buffalo area TV media is also reinforcing the message that these are faulty claims. Thank you for your understanding.

PreK and Kindergarten Registration now open for the 2023-2024 school year at Cassadaga Valley Central Schools! If your child has already attended PreK at CVCS, they are automatically registered for Kindergarten. Students new to the district in both PreK and K will need to register!

On Tuesday, March 28th, nine 5th grade students participated in STEM Wars at the Jamestown Ice Arena. The competition included coding, marble runs, catapults, poster design and a Maker Fair. They all did an amazing job!
