This year, students in Mrs. Crisanti Meeder’s classes and Miss Reynolds’ classes participated in the New York Agriculture in the Classroom Ice Cream Challenge. The challenge encouraged students to combine creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills by developing an original ice cream flavor that did not already exist.
As part of the project, students created unique recipes, designed marketing materials to promote their flavors, and produced their ice cream creations. Through this hands-on experience, students explored concepts in agriculture, food science, business, and marketing while showcasing their creativity and innovation. The Ice Cream Challenge is designed to help students learn about New York’s dairy industry and the many career opportunities connected to agriculture and food production.
We are proud of our students for their hard work, imagination, and enthusiasm throughout this exciting learning experience! #ValleyProud

Mrs. Schrader’s business math class had a lot of fun taste testing generic brands verse name brand products . Most students could not tell the difference in taste except for the cheese crackers! They calculated the differences in total prices and found out they could save up to 40% on their grocery bill by purchasing generic brands.

On Friday, May 29th, local author Jessie Andersen visited Mrs Katilus’s 8th grade ELA classes to share a bit about her writing process and to give students some creative writing strategies to use in their upcoming reader’s theater activity and beyond. Students practiced using the 5 senses to create a scene drawing a reader into the page. Mrs Andersen stressed the importance of punctuation and shared how it can impact meaning. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to see the real-world reasons why these skills matter!

Mr. Quattrone’s classes have been learning about how the Roman army helped fuel Rome’s massive expansion across the Mediterranean world. Today, they stepped into the sandals of the Roman legionnaires.
A major focus of the lesson was on the famous “testudo” formation — Latin for “turtle” — where Roman soldiers locked shields together to create a nearly impenetrable defensive wall. This disciplined strategy gave the Roman army a major advantage during their military campaigns and showcased the importance of teamwork, communication, and trust.
To bring history to life, students formed their own testudo formations while classmates attempted to break through the formation using dodgeballs. The activity gave students a hands-on understanding of the coordination, discipline, and skill that made Roman legionnaires one of the most effective fighting forces in ancient history.
Learning history is always more memorable when students get the chance to experience it firsthand!

On Friday, Cassadaga Valley High School SADD will be bringing back “Ghost Day” (formerly known as “Grim Reaper Day”). This event is ONLY for High School students and was planned completely by our SADD executive board! This is a national event for SADD and was on a rotating 4-year schedule so that every student would experience it at least once during their High School career. As part of SADD’S yearly pre-prom awareness activity, this day represents the awareness of “100 Deadliest Days”, which is the time period between Memorial Day and Labor Day where there is an increased rate of impaired driving with young drivers and also increased fatalities.
According to the National Highway Safety Traffic Commission, every 44 minutes, there is a fatality from a car accident that involves impaired driving (32 people a day). Each period, students will be “pulled” from their class, will receive a t-shirt or sign with what happened to them that they will wear during the day, their faces will be painted white, and they will not be allowed to talk the rest of the day.
The Guidance Office will be available for any student who may need additional support throughout the day. Any questions, please contact Ms. Pleszewski at epleszewski@cvcougars.org.
