This dynamic course is not only an art elective but also part of the JCC College Connections program, giving you an incredible opportunity to dive into the world of design.
So, what exactly is graphic design? It’s the art of communicating powerful messages through stunning visuals! Think about the logos that catch your eye, the eye-catching posters and websites you love, or the sleek packaging that draws you in—all of these are examples of compelling graphic design!
In this class, you will explore and create amazing projects, from vibrant social media graphics to professional business cards. If you're a 10th grader or older who loves expressing ideas through digital art, this is the perfect place for you!
We’ll dive into exciting tools like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, using them to craft designs that might even be featured in our school! Join us for a year of inspiration, creativity, and fun as we bring your artistic visions to life! Don’t miss out—sign up for Graphic Design today! "I am pleased to be offering PHE 1620 Fitness Concepts and Applications as an elective and JCC College Connections class next year. A wide range of topics will be covered in this class. Students will learn about personal health and fitness and will create fitness plans and portfolios. Students will gain an understanding about health related fitness in the areas of: cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition. I will also be introducing some athletic training/sports medicine concepts, as well as sports management/ and recreational topics. We will study nutrition and supplements. Students will also explore fields of study and job opportunities in the field of athletics. I think this class will be a great chance for students to work on fitness, and become more aware of all the available resources and applications in the fitness industry. " - Jodi Hoffman

Teaching students about balance, portions, and plating is such a valuable skill, not just for cooking but for making meals look and feel more enjoyable. The meat roses for charcuterie boards are a fun and creative touch that’s sure to excite them!

Students from Cassadaga Valley recently participated in a partnered program with the Western New York's Rural Area Health Education Center. These student healthcare leaders have heard from local presenters in the healthcare industry, completed hands-on activities and visited local facilities and academic institutions. A strong focus on leadership and professional skills have been highlighted. Students recently toured St. Bonaventure University and explored their Health Science Labs, as well as hearing from local professionals and the various services of the Chautauqua Center.

“Starch Madness” is a new idea to get everyone excited and involved in the decision-making process about food options. The fun bracket style activity keeps things competitive and engaging. Plus, it’s a creative way to encourage kids to learn about different starches and consider new meal ideas.
“Starch Madness” is a great way to build excitement around school meals and get feedback directly from the students on what they love. We plan to share our results with the cafeteria to help generate new food ideas!
Here are a few match-ups that the Foods class decided on:
curly fries vs. regular fries
mac & cheese vs. fettucine alfredo
fried rice vs. spaghetti
bagel vs. hashbrown
rice pudding vs. cinnamon rolls
grilled cheese vs. sliders
waffle fries vs. tots
What starchy foods are on your list?

Recently, our Middle/High School Social Studies teachers attended the New York State Council for Social Studies Conference, where they explored innovative teaching strategies to bring back to their classrooms! From engaging students in inquiry-based learning to using AI tools and real-world simulations, they're always looking for ways to make history, government, and economics come alive for our student population.
Stay tuned for more updates as they bring these new ideas to life in their classrooms!

Yesterday was Mr. Rogers' Birthday! Sinclairville Elementary celebrated his birthday by having the older students read with the younger students! They taught what Mr. Rogers represented with kindness and the sense of neighborhood. #StudentInfluencerAJG

Mrs. Meeder's Advanced Ag Mechanics class helped Mrs. Peterson's Pre-K class with their upcycled toy sculptures.
The Pre-K students brought in old toys from home to dismantle and glue onto other toys to create a unique sculpture!
The Ag Mechanics students used the chop saw to create the sculptures' platforms and helped assemble (and disassemble) the toys and ran the hot glue guns.
It's safe to say that all of the students had a positive experience from this collaboration!
