2nd Planned Lockdown Drills – November 7

On Friday, November 7, 2025 both of our buildings (MHS & SES) will conduct planned lockdown drills as part of our ongoing commitment to safety and emergency preparedness. New York State law requires public schools to notify parents about a planned lockdown drill to ensure safety and reduce potential trauma for students and staff.

These drills are scheduled in advance and provide an important opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to practice lockdown procedures in a calm and structured environment.

Following the drills, building administrators will meet with faculty and staff to debrief and identify practical ways to further enhance safety protocols.

If you have any questions, please contact the office at MHS or SES. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe school environment.

The high school Science/STEM club, advised by Mrs. Schrader, had 21 students attend the October meeting. The students invited Mrs. Meeder to teach the members how to make homemade butter. She taught the students that heavy cream is a byproduct of milk. You can make your own butter from heavy cream at home by shaking the heavy cream in a mason jar. The students used tiny containers and shook them until the fat globules separated from the liquid, forming a solid mass of butter and a pool of buttermilk. They also learned that many products marketed as butter are oil based and are one ingredient away from being a plastic. They had a lot of fun and enjoyed their creamy treat! https://drive.google.com/file/d/187P9aQpduW6POqLEp_TtzR32AtKqTQyj/view?usp=sharing

Mrs. Anderson's 6th grade students recently learned about the only flying mammal, bats! The students learned about bats' use of sonar, their diet, life cycle, behavior, and conservation efforts. Afterward, the students painted their own suncatchers to take home. Did you know that the world's smallest bat weighs less than a penny, while the largest bat can have an almost 6-foot wingspan?
