Students from Mrs. Schrader and Mr. Helwig's Business Math classes attended a "Business Day" field trip at Penn State Behrend. The college put on the day with zero costs to districts and provided the students lunch which included Penn State's famous ice cream from the Berkey Creamery. The students attended talks of their choice on accounting, business, international business, finance, economics, management information systems, marketing, sports management, artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship.

Community welcome! Our next Blood Drive will be November 14 from 8:30am - 2:30pm

The Key Club recently attended the Kiwanis Club of Falconer's October meeting. Our school's Key Club started in 1995 and is sponsored by the Falconer Kiwanis club which is the closest club to our school. The meeting was held at the War Veterans Club. The Key Clubbers were treated to dinner and witnessed the installation of officers for Kiwanis for the upcoming year. Pictured is Mike Erlandson, Falconer Kiwanis President, Key Club officers: Austin Gloss, Jordynn Main and Chloe Lundberg, and the Kiwanis club liaison to our Key Club, Dave Rowley.

Oh what a great night at the 2nd annual Glow Run and Trunk or Treat!! Thank you to all that came to participate!!

High School History Club members have decided they want to do even more community service this year! To begin the year off they have chosen the
Blue Star Mother's organization and will be involved in collecting items at the MHS and SES for our military. Watch our FB page for items needed! This month’s activity was the creation of holiday cards to send to the military with words of thanks and support. Some cards were made for local veterans as well. Social Studies Department Chair and advisor, Mrs. Richir, gave each student a coupon for a free Frosty for a Halloween treat and to show her appreciation too! These are a great bunch of students and what a wonderful way to show Cougar Pride!

REMINDER that you should not share personal or financial information over the phone with unsolicited callers. If you receive such a call, hang up immediately. We are sending this reminder because parents and/or guardians of children who have recently taken an SAT or PSAT exam have been receiving scam calls requesting personal information, including a credit card number, to mail the test results.

The high school Science Club invited our newly hired Earth Science teacher, Mr. Mikula, to be a guest speaker for our October meeting. He did a presentation on geology and shared his enormous wealth of knowledge in this discipline. The club members enjoyed looking at the various rocks he brought in and using the sieve to sort sediments according to size. We learned about the origin of rocks and what they are used for in everyday life.

Art classes in SES and the MHS created artwork to celebrate International Dot Day. Dot Day is a celebration of creativity and art. The message from the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds is to make your mark and see where it takes you!

Our CV Seniors and Juniors have had a busy autumn planning for their future! The fall season kicked off with the Western New York College Consortium, where Seniors and Juniors could visit with area college representatives. Seniors also went into 9th grade classes to discuss their experiences in high school and plans for the future. Some seniors also participated in a Jamestown Community College Admit Day, where they could complete their JCC college application and were issued an acceptance letter the same day!

Mrs. Bennink's JCC Education Class took a field trip to the Careers in Education Conference at Buffalo State University. Students were given the opportunity to hear from educators in different districts, college students in education programs, and speak with college representatives from colleges in Western NY. They participated in a variety of sessions that allowed them to experience different aspects of the teaching profession!

We love our Board of Education! Thank you for volunteering your time and for your dedication to our students, staff and community members!
