Our freshman class had an amazing opportunity yesterday to work with Leadership Coaches from Franklin Covey! They were deep in self reflection, learning, and fun all day. We are so excited to see how they use their learning to improve themselves and our school! Mrs. Mangus also stopped by to talk about the Upward Bound program and the endless possibilities for our students! It was a great day in the Valley!
We are saddened to share the news of the passing of Cliff Comstock, a beloved former member of our school district family.
From 1988 until his retirement in 2006, Mr. Comstock served our district with dedication in many roles — as a bus driver, maintenance worker, and as the SRP union president. He was known for his kindness, his steady commitment to students and staff, and his willingness to go above and beyond in everything he did.
In 1992, he volunteered his time to participate in the Crisis Intervention Clinic, showing a deep dedication to improving his skills and supporting the wellbeing of our school community. A year earlier, he earned first place in the Chautauqua County Association of Pupil Transportation’s Driving Rodeo — a recognition of his skill and professionalism behind the wheel.
Mr. Comstock left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of working with him. His legacy lives on not only through the many lives he touched but also through his family — one of his children continues to serve in our district today.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. His contributions to our district will never be forgotten.

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THE SENIOR ATHLETE BANNERS!!!!!!
Parents/Guardians of Seniors,
Seniors who participate in athletics will have the opportunity to have an individual banner created for display at the school. These banners will be displayed for the duration of their senior year. It is anticipated that the Board of Education will surplus the banners at the end of the school year and they will likely be distributed to the participants. Students who participate in the performing arts will be offered the opportunity to have an individual banner created later in the school year.
This year, a single banner will be created displaying the student name and photograph, with the title, "Student Athlete." This will be done instead of a banner for each sports season. If an athlete participates in a Fall sport this will be your opportunity to participate and have a banner created. Students can choose to wear their fall sport uniform, CV Athletics/ school gear, or their own preferred attire.
NOTE: The same banner will be utilized if an athlete plays multiple sports throughout the school year. Participation is completely optional and up to each student.
Details are as follows:
-Picture Date: Monday, September 8th
-The cost will be borne by the District and will come at no cost to students.
-Who: Seniors who have been, or are currently a Student Athlete.
