Attention Fitness Center users! With graduation being Friday, June 28th, there will be a lot of traffic flow, therefore there will be NO afternoon/evening hours. The Fitness Center will be closed by 2:20 PM. Please join us in celebrating our seniors!

On Tuesday, SES had a bike assembly for the Pre-K class! Our kids learned bike safety from our very own School Safety Advisor, Officer Kent. We raffled off a bike and helmet to one student, Sharon Sarver, our preschool winner!

Our Wellness Committee was able to obtain bikes to raffle off to our students, one per grade level, from a number of local organizations (Park Church, Metallicux , PTO, WayWard, Pearl City Cycles and some generous staff members)! Our kids got to learn bike safety, simple bike repair, and first aid from our presenters!
Thank you to our presenters, Pearl City Cycles, Sinclairville EMS, and Chautauqua County sheriff Phil Lombardo!

It appears that summer will be arriving a few days early this year. Temperatures on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are predicted to be around 90. I would like to let everyone know what steps we are taking here at CVCS to keep our students and staff as cool as possible.
Our Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) and Auditorium have air conditioning. The elementary will take advantage of the auditorium for movie breaks during the day to allow students to cool off. We have moved air conditioning units into the band room for Regents exams and will also use the air conditioned MPR for Regents. Furthermore, our Director of Facilities, Todd Ames and his team have been watching the forecast since last week and preparing to run our building ventilation systems in the most efficient way to bring cooler air into our buildings overnight while mitigating the amount of warm air brought in during the day.
Using the heat index guidelines, we will also be adjusting the duration of time that students spend outside at any one time if temperatures become oppressive, and we will ensure that students have plenty of water to drink. Shaded areas on our campus also provide an opportunity for outside time while keeping kids out of the sun.
Unfortunately, our buses do not have air conditioning but they are stored inside the bus garage to keep them cooler for afternoon runs. Also, our Transportation Director Kristin Sercu will be making sure that roof hatches and windows are open on our buses so that we get as much air movement as possible while transporting students.
What can you do at home to help? Ensure that your child is wearing light, cool, and loose-fitting clothing this week so that they can be as comfortable as possible. Have your child bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during the day. Our staff will make sure that children can refill their water bottles throughout the day as needed. Talk to your children about being aware of how they are feeling when playing outside. If they start to feel overheated, it might be time to take a break, catch their breath and have some water.
Of course, if situations dictate that we need to pivot to a different plan from the one above, we will do so and communicate that plan to our families. Thank you for your support as we welcome summer to CVCS!
Dave Davison
Interim Superintendent

Hello Cassadaga Valley Community,
We have reached the end of the school year for most of our students, and we are on to Regents Exams. 6th Grade Students will continue to have full days of school on Friday 6/14, Monday 6/17, & Tuesday 6/18. They move to half days Thursday, 6/20 - Tuesday, 6/25.
The Regents Exam schedule is attached here. Because our Transportation Department is absolutely awesome, they are running midday runs to take students home from morning exams, and picking up for afternoon exams. Students being picked up for afternoon exams should be waiting outside their house no later than 10:40AM for the bus to bring them to school. Feel free to reach out to the Transportation Department (716-962-5185) if you would like to double check on anything during this time.
Students waiting at school for an exam should report directly to the cafeteria for supervision.
Students taking an afternoon exam will also have transportation available to bring them home too.
6th grade half-day dismissal is at 10:30AM on the last four days of school.
As always, please reach out to the Main Office if you have any questions!!

This program is FREE to any and all community members, and there are no requirements for eligibility. No ID or income requirements.

The seniors competed in a Blokus game tournament today in the library.

Students learn best when they are in environments in which they feel safe, supported, challenged, and accepted. Research shows that when schools and districts focus on improving school climate, students are more likely to engage in the curriculum, develop positive relationships, and demonstrate positive behaviors.
School climate is a broad, multifaceted concept that involves many aspects of the student’s educational experience. A positive school climate is the product of a school’s attention to fostering safety; promoting a supportive academic, disciplinary, and physical environment; and encouraging and maintaining respectful, trusting, and caring relationships throughout the school community no matter the setting—from Pre-K/Elementary School to higher education.
A positive school climate is critically related to school success. For example, it can improve attendance, achievement, and retention and even rates of graduation, according to research. School climate has many aspects. Defining a framework for understanding school climate can help educators identify key areas to focus on to create safe and supportive climates in their schools.
The ED School Climate Survey (EDSCLS) is being administered by Cassadaga Valley Central School District. Your responses are important in understanding the environment of this district and the conditions for teaching and learning.
These surveys are completely anonymous for you to fill out online. With that said, if you do not want to fill these out digitally, feel free to print a copy or copies may be picked up at either school main offices. Please complete the survey by Monday, June 17th.
