Teaching students about balance, portions, and plating is such a valuable skill, not just for cooking but for making meals look and feel more enjoyable. The meat roses for charcuterie boards are a fun and creative touch that’s sure to excite them!

Yesterday was Mr. Rogers' Birthday! Sinclairville Elementary celebrated his birthday by having the older students read with the younger students! They taught what Mr. Rogers represented with kindness and the sense of neighborhood. #StudentInfluencerAJG

Mrs. Meeder's Advanced Ag Mechanics class helped Mrs. Peterson's Pre-K class with their upcycled toy sculptures. The Pre-K students brought in old toys from home to dismantle and glue onto other toys to create a unique sculpture! The Ag Mechanics students used the chop saw to create the sculptures' platforms and helped assemble (and disassemble) the toys and ran the hot glue guns. It's safe to say that all of the students had a positive experience from this collaboration!

“Starch Madness” is a new idea to get everyone excited and involved in the decision-making process about food options. The fun bracket style activity keeps things competitive and engaging. Plus, it’s a creative way to encourage kids to learn about different starches and consider new meal ideas. “Starch Madness” is a great way to build excitement around school meals and get feedback directly from the students on what they love. We plan to share our results with the cafeteria to help generate new food ideas! Here are a few match-ups that the Foods class decided on: curly fries vs. regular fries mac & cheese vs. fettucine alfredo fried rice vs. spaghetti bagel vs. hashbrown rice pudding vs. cinnamon rolls grilled cheese vs. sliders waffle fries vs. tots What starchy foods are on your list?

6th Grade Pasta Tower Project: The students’ objective was to construct a building that could withstand an “earthquake” simulated by an earthquake plate using pasta, hot glue, and a few other materials. Students learned the engineering process behind earthquake safe buildings. Before the building process began students created, to scale, blueprints for their towers. The blueprint designs had to show the “top view” and the “side view” of the building. To create their 3-D buildings, students replicated the top view 4 times to create the ceiling, floors, and base. The other sections of the tower were constructed by replicating the side view 4 times to create the walls for their towers.
