The HS Science Club made Oobleck at their March meeting. The members learned that Oobleck, which is a mixture of cornstarch and water, is a non-Newtonian fluid, meaning its viscosity changes under stress. It acts like a liquid when undisturbed and a solid when force is applied.

"I am pleased to be offering PHE 1620 Fitness Concepts and Applications as an elective and JCC College Connections class next year. A wide range of topics will be covered in this class. Students will learn about personal health and fitness and will create fitness plans and portfolios. Students will gain an understanding about health related fitness in the areas of: cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition. I will also be introducing some athletic training/sports medicine concepts, as well as sports management/ and recreational topics. We will study nutrition and supplements. Students will also explore fields of study and job opportunities in the field of athletics. I think this class will be a great chance for students to work on fitness, and become more aware of all the available resources and applications in the fitness industry. Teaching students about balance, portions, and plating is such a valuable skill, not just for cooking but for making meals look and feel more enjoyable. The meat roses for charcuterie boards are a fun and creative touch that’s sure to excite them!

Mrs. Meeder's Advanced Ag Mechanics class helped Mrs. Peterson's Pre-K class with their upcycled toy sculptures. The Pre-K students brought in old toys from home to dismantle and glue onto other toys to create a unique sculpture! The Ag Mechanics students used the chop saw to create the sculptures' platforms and helped assemble (and disassemble) the toys and ran the hot glue guns. It's safe to say that all of the students had a positive experience from this collaboration!
