📣 Calling All Cougar Community Members! 🐾
Cassadaga Valley Central School District is excited to announce the formation of our Den of Distinction Committee—and we’re looking for community volunteers to help us honor the exceptional individuals who’ve made a lasting impact on our district and its students.
This prestigious Hall of Fame is unique—not limited to athletics—and includes outstanding alumni, educators, staff, and community members who have excelled in their fields or made remarkable contributions to our school community.
The committee will be made up of:
~A Board of Education Member
~The Superintendent of Schools
~The High School Principal
~At least three (3) district residents, one of whom will serve as Committee Chair. This can include teachers who live in the district!
We’re seeking passionate individuals from within the district who are eager to help recognize excellence in many forms—whether it's a coach, teacher, volunteer, scholar, musician, or leader.

Today is the last day of High School for the Class of 2025! It is a bittersweet moment to say goodbye to teachers and friends, but we can't wait to see all that everyone accomplishes. On June 15th, Jocelyn Wintersteen represented Cassadaga Valley and Section VI in the NYS Federation Golf Championship. The championship was held at James Baird State Park Golf Course in Pleasant Valley, NY. This championship was established to bring together the four athletic associations of New York State for one final championship. Each association sends their top 6 players and after Jocelyn’s solid finish in the NYSPHSAA State Championship on June 6-9th, at Wild Wood Country Club in Rush, NY, she was invited to compete in this event. Jocelyn shot 74 and was declared the overall champion 🏆⛳. Congratulations Jocelyn on an outstanding season! #ValleyProud! 🎉

🎙️ A couple of summers ago, our IT Director, Mr. Phil Bens, launched a podcast featuring conversations with teachers and staff here at SES. Through his role, he’s always found that building strong relationships is key to making a difference—and he loves getting to know the people who make our school community so special.
In this episode, he chats with Vicki Martin, Fitness Center Manager, and a few students about how they’ve been working toward their training goals. It’s a great glimpse into the hard work, growth, and support happening every day in our CV community. 💪

🎓CVCS Senior Spotlight: Ariana Main🎓
Let’s give a big cheer for our next senior, Ariana Main! After graduation, she plans to attend Jamestown Community College to get her Occupational Therapy Assistant Degree. She then plans to work in pediatric occupational therapy. After working for a while, she would like to go back to college and get her Master's in Occupational Therapy. During her time at CVCS, she has been a part of 8 school musicals, Valley Minstrels, Varsity Tennis, Varsity Soccer, the National Honor Society, Tri M, SADD, and Cougars for Life. She has held the position of class treasurer for the past four years. A huge congratulations to Arian for being named the CVCS Class of 2025 Salutatorian!
Her favorite part about attending CVCS was the music department. “Musicals will always hold a special place in my life as they’ve given me some of my closest friends. I’ll miss the connections I’ve made and watching the underclassmen grow.”
She would like to shout out Mrs. Hattaway for “Being my school mom and always having my best interest at heart!” Mr. J Cole for “helping me continue to grow musically and achieve accomplishments things I didn’t know I could.” Mrs. Hammond for “Always making class more enjoyable and for helping people stand up for what they believe in.” She would finally like to thank Mrs. Avila for “ Always brightening my day and being there to talk to.”
Your future is bright, Ariana! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish! 👏🎉
🎓CVCS Senior Spotlight: Jordan Swanson🎓
Say hello to our next senior, Jordan Swanson! After graduation, he plans on taking a gap year. He plans to attend college in order to get a job in heating and cooling. During his time at CVCS, he has been a member of the Football and Bowling teams. He has also been very involved in the Baseball team; he has participated in many different tournaments.
He will miss his sports teams and seeing his friends every day the most.
He would like to shout out Mr.Spitzer because “He is the best coach and always there for me!” He would like to shout out Mrs. Joslyn for “Always being there and being a good person to talk to.” Finally, he would like to thank Mrs. Hattaway and Mrs. Gloss because “They helped push the hardest to get me back at CVCS.”

It’s time to shine the spotlight on our next senior, Aiden Testa! After graduation, he plans to attend Lineman school in the hope of starting a career in power lines. During his time at CVCS, he has been a member of the Football and Baseball teams.
He will miss being able to see his friends every day.

Let’s hear it for our next senior, Bradley Windagle! After graduation, he plans on joining the workforce. He hopes to work in a fish hatchery. During his time at CVCS, he has been involved in Baseball, Football, Basketball, Bowling, and the Key Club.
He is going to miss playing Baseball and gym class with Mr. Spitzer.
He would like to shout out Mr. Spitzer because “ He has been my coach since 6th grade, and taught me a lot of valuable lessons!”

8 new members were inducted and 16 returning members were honored at CVCS’s Tri-M Music Honor Society last night. A recital followed with 28 individual acts at the 7th annual Valley Showcase! Great job to our outstanding musicians here in the Valley! #ValleyProud #StudentInfluencerCatie
Ms. Nelsen’s and Ms. Pleszewski’s Life Skills group finished up their year-long lessons on communication skills, today, with a special visit from a Cassadaga Valley alumnus! Deputy Jason Beichner visited the students today, with K9 Drake and K9 Jax, to talk about communication skills he uses with his canine partners! He discussed verbal and non-verbal communication, speaking another language for commands for the dogs, his journey in law enforcement, and also gave the students some great advice. Deputy Beichner shared with the students to always be a good person and to not let mistakes get you down or make you feel like you can’t reach your dreams. He also gave the students their own Sheriff Deputy badge pin and talked about what the badge meant and how you conduct yourself while wearing it, and students also got trading cards of K9 Jax and K9 Drake!

🎓CVCS Senior Spotlight: David Corcoran🎓
Say hello to our next spotlight, David Corcoran! After graduation, he plans to join the workforce. He hopes to one day be a mechanic and own a repair shop. During his time at CVCS, he has been a member of the Trap team. And the Media team.
His favorite memory is playing tug of war during the pep assemblies, and watching Bradley get pied during Spirit Week. He will miss hanging out with friends in the Library the most.
He would like to thank Mrs. Joslyn, Mrs. Schrader, Mrs. Stevenson, Mr. Spitzer, and Mrs. Heald for having an impact on him and helping him throughout his high school career.
