Cassadaga Valley Drama Club presents:
The Addams Family, school edition
This year’s show was released in 2011, but is a premiere for the CV Drama Club. 54 students in grades 6-12 are involved in the cast, crew, and pit orchestra.
The plot line of The Addams Family musical is original, meaning it does not appear in any of the TV episodes or films. In our story, Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family - a man her parents have never met. And if that weren't upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he's never done before - keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday's 'normal' boyfriend and his parents. Uncle Fester Addams enlists the help of the Addams family ancestors, but will they be able to help love triumph?
Show dates are Friday, March 22nd at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 23rd at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 24th at 2:30 p.m.

Our Spirit Days have been fun already! Here are a few pictures of Medieval Monday and Tropical Tuesday to get our week started right!

Recently, the 9th-grade honors Social Studies class at Cassadaga Valley, along with officers from the high school History Club, participated in a program sponsored by JCC called "Citizenship Day: A Global Perspective." This engaging event aimed to educate students on how to become better citizens and foster discussions about the Declaration of Human Rights.
The day commenced with a presentation by Andrew Beiter, the director of The Summer Institute for Human Rights in Buffalo. Students were then organized into teams for a scavenger hunt, exploring local human rights organizations and pertinent issues. Following this, a discussion took place between our students and a panel of international students from JCC. This interaction allowed our high school students to pose questions and gain insights into human rights issues in different countries, as well as the perspectives of international students living in America. Representatives from South Africa, Ireland, and other nations participated in this enriching conversation.
The program was made possible through the Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language Grant sponsored by JCC.
Upon returning to Mrs. Richir's classroom, Cassadaga Valley students continued their engagement. They were tasked with creating posters focusing on a human right listed in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Submissions included a description and title for their work, with JCC offering prizes for different grade categories (5-8, 9-12, and college students).
Congratulations are extended to the following winners from Cassadaga Valley: "Know Your Right" by Aubre Bonasera and "Sonder" by Lily Green. Additional awards were given for outstanding work, including "Emotionless Means Colorless" by Anna Burlingame,
"Equal Humans, Equal Rights" by Gabrielle Cunningham, "Every Person is Equal" by Addisyn Grissom, and "Bodies not Politics" by Catie Russell.
The impact of this program has been evident in our students' expanded worldviews. It has encouraged them to look beyond borders, recognizing the interconnectedness of our world. The focus on citizenship and the potential for one person to make a difference has resonated with the students. By learning about human rights and other countries, they gain a greater appreciation for their freedoms and the opportunity to voice their opinions on global issues and human rights.

At 8:05 AM Cassadaga Valley Middle/High School went into a Hold In Place for a student medical incident. This medical incident is limited to one student. All other students remained in their extended homerooms until approximately 8:55 AM when the hold in place was lifted. A hold in place keeps students in the classroom with a teacher and limits students in the hallways.. A hold in place is temporary so medical attention can be given without disruption.

LAST CHANCE: Tuesday, February 13th will be the last day to purchase a yearbook. Orders can be made at www.jostens.com or brought to Mrs. Bennink in Room 125. Cash and Check (made payable to Valley View 2024) will be accepted. The High School yearbook is $70 and the Middle School yearbook is $22.
