We are saddened to share with the CVCS family that Rick MacDonald, who has served as a bus driver here at CVCS since 2008, passed away this past weekend. Rick most recently drove bus 183 (the monkey bus for the elementary children) and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. Here is a link to Rick's obituary: https://www.observertoday.com/obituaries/2023/01/richard-rick-douglas-macdonald/

Here is a video introducing an exciting new program that will support the health and wellness of CVCS students! If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Raynor at araynor@cvcougars.org

Mr. Cusimono comes to town! A big thank you to Mr. Cusimano, one of our M/HS teachers, for coming to sing with the PreK students.

This is an important reminder that contrary to the originally published school calendar, CVCS does have school tomorrow (12/22/2022) for everyone in pre-k thru grade 12. See you tomorrow in school!

Good morning SES Family and Friends,
Those of us who have lived in Western NY for any length of time are all used to the impact that winter weather can have on our plans. Those of us at Sinclairville Elementary experienced that just this past week with the postponement of our 4th and 5th grade Holiday Concert. Choosing to postpone or cancel an event because of inclement weather is never an easy decision, but it is generally the right thing to do for the safety of all those involved. The challenge then becomes what to do next and how do we “re-capture” that moment or that experience. Obviously, a Christmas Concert just before Christmas is best for our students and our families, but this year the potential for treacherous driving the evening of Thursday, December 15th preempted that.
While a quick rescheduling of the concert prior to the winter recess was not possible, we do plan to reschedule the concert for early January so our students, families and school community can enjoy the music and holiday fun anyway! It will still be winter, the kids will still be excited to sing for their families and we can still enjoy the event even though it didn’t happen as we had originally planned.
We plan to hold our Elementary Winter Concert for everyone to enjoy at 6:00 PM (with students arriving at 5:20 to warm up) on Thursday , January 5th in the Middle/High School Auditorium. We will announce this to our students immediately and will share the details with everyone else as soon as possible as well.
We understand the disappointment our students felt in missing the original date, but we want them to enjoy their performance on the 5th and we are sure it will be awesome! Thank you for your patience and understanding and we look forward to seeing you right after the winter recess.
Have a great holiday with family and friends!
Sincerely,
Kelly Sedlak
SES Principal

The Key Club recently made homemade Christmas cards and filled holiday sacks with coloring books, pencils, furry socks, chapsticks and candy. We had 20 members attend our meeting to assemble and make the gifts. An officer delivered them on Friday to residents at Heritage Village in Gerry!

After a lesson on the brain, nerves and information processing, Mr. Guziec's fourth grade students were able to observe a sheep brain dissection and were visited by Dr. Myles who discussed how our brain works.

Students in Mrs. Zahm’s third grade class recently got into the holiday spirit with the help of some of their family members. They played games, decorated cookies and made ornaments to give away as gifts to their families!

A senior parent meeting for the class of 2023 will be held on Thursday, January 5th at 7:00 PM in the Middle/High School Cafeteria.

Due to our current weather and the potential for unsafe driving conditions this evening we are cancelling tonight's 4th and 5th grade chorus concert.

With the help of E2CCB's Distance Learning program, Ms. Ringler's class learned about matter with a virtual presenter from Science Central!
