Hello CVCS School Community, Starting today, Monday, July 17th, the parking lot at the gymnasium entrance of the Middle/High school is getting a makeover! That means that anyone coming to the school will need to park at the front of the school for the foreseeable future. That includes all patrons of the Fitness Center during AM and PM hours, any students coming for summer school, or any athletes participating in summer workouts. While we know that this is an inconvenience now, we are excited to see what our parking area will look like once it is all finished! When parking at the front of the school, please do not block the bus parking areas. We are still transporting students to school and home from school for the next three weeks. Thank you for understanding. We'll send out pictures when this phase is finished!

Cassadaga Valley community members! Check out our 18 hole frisbee golf course or our one mile nature trail this summer! The 18 hole course was made by our very own Agricultural Mechanics II classes using mostly recycled/reused materials! Listed below is each hole's distance and par. Our one mile nature trail was created by the Forestry & Conservation classes! There are identification podiums along the way, with beautiful views of the hills and valley. Take a breather in the gazebo built by the Applied Geometry class this year and check out the progress on our wildlife garden. You'll also find an orchard with a variety of fruit trees and can end your journey on the patio by the greenhouse.

Cassadaga Valley Central School District’s Food Service Program was recently awarded funding to participate in the USDA Local Foods for Schools Program. These funds were awarded to qualifying school districts to help strengthen local food systems by building fair, competitive, and resilient local food chains and expanding local and regional markets. Cassadaga Valley CSD is already supporting local farmers and providing our students with some fresh dairy and local produce products. All of our milk and yogurt comes from Upstate Niagara Dairy Cooperative. Our apples are from LynOaken Farms. In the fall we purchase corn, cucumbers, tomatoes and grapes from Yerico Farms in Sheridan. We also purchase NY raised beef from Slate Foods, Inc. and NY hot dogs from Wardynksi in Buffalo. With LFS funds we will be able to purchase even more local foods from right here in our community and throughout NY state. We are currently seeking sources for local fruit, vegetables, eggs, maple syrup, apple cider, or USDA beef. If you or a friend or family member is interested in learning more about selling locally grown or raised foods for use in our school breakfast and lunch program please reach out to Heidi Ottaway, Food Service Director: hottaway@cvcougars.org 716-962-8581 x1507.

Hello CVCS Community, This message is specifically geared toward students that are scheduled to take a Regents Exam between June 14th and June 22nd. Please read the attached Regents Schedule that highlights when each exam will be given. Morning exams begin at 7:45 AM, and afternoon exams begin at 11:45 AM. Students are required to sit for, at least, 2 hours for a Regents exam. Morning exams begin at 7:45 AM. Students that are taking a morning exam should ride their regular bus to school in the morning. Breakfast will be served, just as it always is. When students are finished with this exam, they can either take the 6th grade dismissal bus home at 10:30 AM, or transportation provided when they finish the exam. Afternoon exams begin at 11:45 AM. Students needing transportation will be boarding the bus that is transporting 6th grade students home at the half day (at 10:30 AM). These students should be out and ready for the bus from about 10:35 AM on. Once they get to the school, lunch will be provided if they need it, and their exam will begin at 11:45 AM. Again, transportation will be provided home. Our transportation department is amazing, and we thank them for providing all of these extra runs during this time of the year. Please do not hesitate to call them if you have any questions, or if you would like to make sure that they know your student needs a ride on a certain day!

We are excited for our elementary students to participate in field day at SES today! And in keeping with health department recommendations related to air quality, our students will enjoy all the fun by spending time outside intermittently today. They will go out and participate in activities we have set up outside and then come back in the building to take advantage of the fun inside! We are monitoring air quality levels and will do everything we can to provide our kids with a great - and safe - field day!

The first ever CV Band Banquet was a huge success! Students who participated in the band program this year in grades 6-12, along with their parents/guardians, shared a potluck dinner on Wednesday before the Tri-M Showcase concert. Awards were distributed for community service and individual achievements. Pictured are band director Mrs. Zenns and Sophie Conti, who performed her first NYSSMA percussion solo this year. Also pictured are the 16 students who performed in the 5th annual Pride of the Valley Showcase on Wednesday. Before the recital, 6 new members were inducted into the Cassadaga Valley chapter of the Tri-M music honor society, and 4 continuing members were recognized. Congratulations to all!

As you are aware, there is an air quality alert in our area. To limit the impact of this poor air quality event we have shut down the air intake devices to limit what is drawn into our buildings. As a result, our staff has been given the following guidance: Please stay in the building this afternoon and watch for symptoms our students may experience and take action as needed. *Students with asthma should follow their asthma action plans and keep their quick-relief medicine handy* We have also shared the attached diagram to provide helpful information.
