Attention CVCS community members! The fall/winter newsletter was mailed out over the weekend. If you live in the district and did not receive one, please contact Ms. Wilson, District Clerk, at mwilson@cvcougars.org
The newsletter can also be viewed here https://5il.co/2byhl

Check out the School Social Workers' January newsletter, regarding school refusal and avoidance https://5il.co/2bsv5. School Refusal can be a result of multiple different things. It could be avoidance, anxiety, a youth being tired, due to bullying, a test, and many other reasons. School refusal is a regular refusal to attend school or routine problems staying at school. School refusal is considered a symptom, is not a mental health diagnosis, but could be a part of another anxiety disorder, PTSD, or an adjustment disorder. "Buddy the Elf" made an appearance all over Cassadaga Valley this morning, including the 4th grade class!

The high school Science/STEM club held their December meeting. Pictured are the students grouped together and a close-up of their experiment. The club members made predictions and then tested them about their candy canes dissolving in various solutions. Pictured are the candy canes in milk, water and vinegar. The students learned about solutions, solutes, solvents, and control variables.

Good Evening,
Over the weekend, several school districts from throughout our region and across the state received a concerning email. The context of the email posed threats towards Texas schools on Monday morning. Law enforcement and the FBI continue to investigate but have reassured schools that the email has no credibility, there is no known threat, and it is in all likelihood a hoax that originated from somewhere overseas.
While Cassadaga Valley did not receive the email, we are taking precautionary measures to ensure our students and staff are safe. Out of an abundance of caution, you will notice an increase in police presence at our school buildings tomorrow. We will be sure to share any additional information as it becomes available.
Thank You,
Dave Davison
