During the week of October 23-29, 2024, we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week at Sinclairville Elementary School. The Red Ribbon Campaign originated in 1985, when a very brave law enforcement officer gave his life to save people. Our Theme this year is: “Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free” Our activities will include taking the Red Ribbon pledge, "I Spy" during lunch, dress up days, and items for our students to show their commitment to a healthy life.

On Saturday, October 5th, the High School History Club went to the Lakeview Cemetery Saints and Sinners Walking Tour sponsored by the Fenton Historical Society. Students "met" several individuals who had a large impact on Jamestown. They were introduced to businessmen, doctors, Lucille Ball's mother, as well as others. Students said they found it much more interesting than they thought it would be. Another student commented how interesting it was to learn the stories from the actors and how these people impacted Jamestown's local history. After the tour Mrs. Richir and Mr. Stimson treated the students to a pizza dinner. A special thank you to Mrs. Heath, and Mr. Schrader for helping chaperoning the walking tour.

Today is our annual Pink Day in remembrance of our beloved ELA teacher, Debra Tordoff. The Key Club sponsors this as a way to bring awareness to Breast Cancer and to raise money for senior scholarships in memory of Ms. Tordoff. Of course we still have to represent the Buffalo Bills too!

It’s been a busy start to the school year in Home Economics and Career and Finance. The food classes have made homemade granola with yogurt parfait and egg bites. They've been learning about how food affects their everyday lives, getting into the kitchen and exploring healthy food, and learning how to apply these skills at home. Career and Finance students met with our Maintenance staff and Administrative offices. The students were able to get to know the careers that we offer, right within our own school, as well as discover that our school employs over 30 alumni, with Mr. Todd Ames, Director of Facilities, clocking in at 38 years employment with CVCS class of 1986! We also welcomed Officer Taylor Anderson. Officer Anderson came to visit the Career and Finance class to offer insight into a career in law enforcement. Officer Anderson is also a CVCS alumni, class of 2016, and started her path right here with our school. Ms. Anderson began her criminal justice career through our BOCES program and, upon graduation, she proceeded right to JCC and enrolled into the police academy. Following graduation, she has had extensive training, as well as many EMT and various life saving certificates. Officer Anderson is employed with the Jamestown Police Department and loves the fast-paced work environment as well as serving her community! On behalf of all of our students and staff, we thank Ms. Anderson for taking the time to come back to CVCS, and inspire our students to do great things! #ValleyProud!
