Important School Closure Information:
Schools across western NY have been made aware of an Executive Order from the NYS Governor’s Office that has declared a disaster emergency in Chautauqua County effective today (November 17). As a result of this executive order all schools in Chautauqua County will be closed tomorrow - Friday, November 18, 2022.
This early announcement is based on the Governor’s declaration, consultation with County authorities, and the weather predictions of heavy snowfall, high winds, and blizzard-like conditions throughout parts of the region. As a result of this, the Cassadaga Valley Central School District has determined that the safest course of action is to close school tomorrow. We are also cancelling all after school activities for today as well.
REMINDER! We have Parent/Teacher Conferences this Friday, 11/18. And, a second reminder that we are in session on December 22nd! On the school calendars that were mailed home, the 22nd was colored blue, indicating it was part of winter break. Winter break is from 12/23/22 - 1/2/23. Please contact the district with any questions.

Sinclairville Elementary Reminder: This Friday, November 18th, students will dismiss early for parent-teacher conferences. Walkers will begin dismissing at 11:15 and busses at 11:30.

Taps Across The Valley 2022: It was a rainy Veterans Day, but several of our CVCS Band students honored our Veterans by performing Taps on Veterans Day at 11:00 a.m. at their homes. This is the 2nd year for many of these students to participate in Taps for Veterans. Thank you for your service, Veterans!

Dear Cougar Families - I'm writing to make you aware of a situation that is taking place at the school right now. A young student in our middle school broke her arm and to make access easier for first responders we placed the middle/high school in a brief shelter in place. That keeps other children out of the hall as paramedics and other support personnel come and go through our hallways. We only stay in a shelter in place long enough to provide the injured or ill student with privacy as the emergency is managed. Unfortunately, the injury is serious enough that Star Flight has been called. This child's parents are on sight and the emergency responders are with them in the nurse's office. To be clear, while this is a serious injury, it only involves one student. The rest of our student body will be going on with the remainder of their day as usual. We expect the helicopter to arrive shortly - but there is no safety concern in the building.
All winter sports practices start Monday, November 14th except Modified Boys Basketball which starts January 3rd. Contact your coaches or Kay McElwain for practice times! Modified Girls Basketball will open up with a home game Monday at 5pm!

The Key Club was asked by SUNY Fredonia’s Chapter of Tau Sigma to write 50 cards for active service members. The cards will be added to care packages going out this Thanksgiving.

The Cassadaga Valley Faculty Association recently held the annual Honors Dinner at Cassadaga Valley Middle/High School. Students who received Honor or Merit Roll for all four quarters last school year were invited to attend with their families. Congratulations to our hard-working students!

We were happy to celebrate our October Cougars with Character last Friday! Congratulations students and parents of those nominated!! We are so proud!
