22 of our middle school band students, along with band students from Silver Creek, attended workshops and performed along side the Buffalo Silver Band at a concert on Saturday. Learning by listening to those around you is a gift that we are cultivating in our students!

Our first blood drive of the year for the Community Blood Bank will be this Friday, November 3rd, at the Middle High School from 8:00am-2:00pm. Anyone is welcome to donate (students, staff, and community members). Students can sign up for an open block in their schedule in the Guidance Office while staff and community members can come at any time throughout the day. If you are coming from the community, please enter the main MHS doors and sign in first in the Main Office. Students must be 16 years or older to donate. If a student is 16 they must see Ms. Pleszewski (Guidance Office) prior to signing up to get a permission slip. Any other questions, please contact Emily Pleszewski at epleszewski@cvcougars.org

School Safety Advisor, Floyd Kent, was a guest speaker at the monthly high school Science Club meeting. He taught kids about DNA, fingerprinting, and many other topics related to criminal investigation. At the conclusion he let the members try on his SWAT vests.

At last Wednesday's Chautauqua County School Board Association's meeting, Dr. Kolison, President of SUNY Fredonia, presented each Chautauqua county school district with a $6,000 renewable merit-based scholarship. The President's Excellence award will be given to a student who demonstrates outstanding academic performance, who enrolls full-time at SUNY Fredonia, and who will live on SUNY Fredonia's campus. Thank you President Kolison for this generous gift!
