To Prospective UPK Parents/Guardians:

Universal Pre-Kindergarten is a state-funded program and all participating school districts are obligated to follow the state regulations for implementation.  If you are interested in familiarizing yourself with these regulations they can be found on our district website at

The information we use to determine the structure of our Universal Pre-Kindergarten programming is collected by the District Registrar from the annual census.  This census collection identifies the total number of eligible children district-wide.

To determine how many children will be in each section, every school district is required to establish a process to select which eligible students will be placed in a class.  When there are more eligible applicants than can be served in a given school year the district must select students using a random selection process.

  • The maximum size for a prekindergarten class is 18 children. For classes of up to 18 students, there must be one teacher and one paraprofessional assigned to each class.

To maintain compliance with these regulations we will be holding our random selection process on Monday, May 3, 2021, at 8:00 AM.  We will contact you personally to discuss your child’s selection order and your class preference. Should you have any question regarding this process or the Universal Pre-Kindergarten program, please contact Rhonda Miller at or 962-5195 ext. 2400.
